Perfect for trekkers seeking adventure amidst the grandeur of the Himalayas, the Gokyo Lakes Trek combines moderate trails with occasional steep ascents. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of some of the world’s most iconic peaks, including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Mt. Makalu (8,643m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516m), and Mt. Ama Dablam (6,812m), alongside stunning summits such as Mt. Baruntse, Mt. Thamserku, and Island Peak.

Itinerary

Begin your journey in Kathmandu, a city of vibrant culture and spiritual depth! Upon your arrival, your guide will greet you and take you to your hotel. Enjoy your evening unwinding and preparing for the adventure ahead.

Morning visit to Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ancient city known for its timeless charm and rich cultural heritage. Stroll around the intricately carved wooden temples, golden gates, and the iconic 55-Window Palace, the Nyatapola Temple, a stunning five-tiered pagoda, and the Pottery Square, where artisans create exquisite pottery using age-old techniques and taste the local specialty, Juju Dhau (King Curd), a creamy yogurt. After lunch, visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases the architectural grandeur of the Malla and Shah dynasties. Stroll around Thamel, the lively tourist hub. Browse through local shops offering handicrafts, singing bowls, and trekking gear.

The trail follows alongside the Dudh Koshi River, crossing multiple suspension bridges, including the famed Hillary Suspension Bridge, which is renowned as the highest and longest bridge in the Everest region. Get the first glimpse of Mt. Everest at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park, where trekking permits are checked. Continuing along the trail, to eventually reach Namche Bazaar, the bustling and vibrant trekking village that serves as the heart of the Everest (Khumbu) region.

Begin the trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) after an early breakfast. Arrive at base camp to be awestruck by the Himalayan range’s breathtaking panoramic vistas, including Annapurna South (7,219 m), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), and Mt. Gangapurna (6,993 m) (7,455 m). After spending some time at the Annapurna Basecamp, hike back to Machhapuchhere Base Camp for lunch and begin your way back to Dovan.

Begin your final trekking day by descending through Rhododendron forests from Namche Bazaar to the Hilary suspension bridge to reach Lukla.

Begin your day with a visit to Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), believed to be over 2,500 years old. This UNESCO World Heritage Site offers panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas, and the symbolic eyes of Buddha on the stupa watch over the city.

Next, explore Patan Durbar Square, once the kingdom palace during the Malla Kingdom, and home to Nepal’s oldest stone temple, Krishna Mandir, carved from a single stone block. The Royal Palace Museum offers a rare glimpse of copper engravings and religious artifacts. Wander through the narrow streets to experience the Newari culture, and refresh over a traditional Newari lunch and, Juju Dhau, a rich, sweet yogurt drink. Try singbowel, see thangka paintings, handcarved stone and copper work.

Conclude your day at Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world towering 36 meters high. Participate in a kora (walking around the stupa in a meditative circle), feel the stupa’s spiritual pull before enjoying a rooftop dinner overlooking this sacred site.
